While we support the federal government's efforts to reform and restructure agencies like the FDA, NIH, CDC, and others, we recognize that the powers over the food and medical industries were never explicitly granted to the federal government under the U.S. Constitution. As such, this issue should primarily be addressed at the state level, in line with the 10th Amendment. It’s important to emphasize that our goal is not to expand the Tennessee state government through this legislative initiative, but rather to support small farmers and promote greater transparency in labeling, so that consumers can make more informed choices regarding their health.
